Amoud University continues to lead other institutions of higher learning in Somaliland and the Somali regions. In June 2012, the postgraduate and research Department was established and successfully launched, whose aim was to produce home-grown Masters Graduates and eventually, in the near future, PHD Graduates.

Amoud announced three pioneer courses to start up the department including Masters in Project Planning, Masters in Public Health and Educational Policy and Planning programmes. The university received applications from over 100 prospective students and straight away, qualified applicants were registered as students for these specialization areas.
In June 2013, the School of Postgraduate Studies and Research (SPGSR) announced four more specialization areas including Curriculum Management; Public Health; Rural Development & Pastoral Economics; and Finance & Management. More applications were then received and additional students accepted into their respective programmes.
In the year 2014, the first batch of students who enrolled in 2012 had a Project Title defence session in the month of November and a second defence session for proposals in the month of March, followed by final thesis defense in the month May. There have so far been several other defence sessions in each year since 2014 to 2019 at various times.
Our students have been able to make publications of some of their work in peer review journals.
Amoud University boasts of competent and highly qualified staff who are authors of several books and papers some of which are based on their research at Amoud university itself, researchers and lecturers with vast wealth of experience in teaching and academic works. The faculty work can be obtained in peer review journals from the following links:-
Amoud University hopes to graduate another cohort of it's many batches in the Masters programme by August 2019. PHD programmes will be launched in September 2019.
