This is a no mean feat, and requires that well-focused and highly trained manpower be churned into all sectors of the economy and in every part of the country. This is well in line with Amoud’s objective of pioneering a tradition of higher education in Somaliland and training a new breed of professionals. The establishment of graduate programmes at the university is part of the university’s strategy of improving service delivery in the country through production of highly qualified and well trained human resource.
Our graduate programmes are advanced academic degrees intended to [produce individuals who demonstrate a mastery and high-order overview of specific fields of study or areas of professional practice. The programmes are written to world class standards and are taught by highly qualified and well-trained personnel. As such, graduates of these programmes are posited to possess advanced knowledge of a specialized body of theoretical and applied topics; high order skills in analysis, critical evaluation, professional application; and the ability to solve complex problems and to think rigorously and independently.
These rules and regulations provide a basis and operational framework for developing the desired manpower necessary for developing the university, the community and the country, and for export to other regions. They reflect the desire of Amoud University to operate within frameworks acceptable locally and internationally. The rules and regulations are specific to Amoud University but are no doubt consistent with the rules and regulations for the award of graduatedegrees around the world. Degrees provided in line with the standards described here-in are world class degrees. However, the rules and regulations will be reviewed from time to time as needs arise, and as demands for various degrees continue to change.
