Amoud University is open to all aspiring candidates without any discrimination. Admission to the University is by competitive examination. Candidates with a good pass in their secondary school leaving examinations are eligible for the admission examination that is held annually on July. Candidates from abroad who studied under different systems of education are evaluated by the Admissions Committee on case-by-case basis.

Criteria for Admission
Local applicants who seek admission to Amoud University must first pass the General Secondary School Certificate conducted by the Somaliland Ministry of Education.
Applicants who hold General Certificate of Education (GCE) or equivalent from recognized educational institutions will have their certificates examined and approved by the Academic Committee.

Criteria For Admission into AU Masters Programmes
To qualify for admission into the Masters degree candidates shall be:
- Holders of an undergraduate degree of Amoud University with Grade Points of 2.70 and above or a degree from any other recognized University and
- Postgraduate Diploma of Amoud University or from any other recognized University, or evidence of extensive research experience as demonstrated by publications in peer reviewed journals.
- In addition to the above, applicants must meet the specific requirements of the Masters programme as approved by Senate.
